I run a 2000 and I love it!  The filtering is great.  I\'ve not played with a 7000 yet so I couldn\'t tell you how they compare.  I\'ve got a friend with a 7000 and he sounds great on the air with it.  I\'ve been meaning to get over to his shack and check it out.  When I do I\'ll give a full report.

Open Chat / Callsigns
« on: August 17, 2008, 12:44:53 PM »
I\'ve kept the same one I\'ve always had.  I\'ve upgraded to extra now.  I thought about getting a 2 by 2 when I upgraded but everyone knows me by my call sign so I just decided to leave it.  Its all personal preference.   When you upgrade if you check the callsign change box I believe they\'ll assign you a new one.

I would always charge for parts I had to purchase if any.  You\'re time is worth something.  If you start charging and get well known you could have lots of work and no spare time, but if you enjoy it that might be great.  I used to work on computers on the side.  I never had any free time along with that and my regular job.  Some people expected a miracle for $5 too and that got old.

Travis, that card is really cool, and it is most definitely you :arf2:
Keith, that is a beautiful pic, What kind of fish do you catch there.
Tom, is that your granddaughter in the pic?
Crazy, There is a town in Eastern NC near my hometown called Bailey where a lot of the Baileys are from.

Welcome Keith.  Theres a great bunch of folks in this place.  We won\'t hold it against you that you know Tom. :arf2:  I see you like 10 meter SSB.  10 meters is my favorite band.  You can take a crappy antenna and a 25 watt radio and work the world.  Its the poor amateurs dream band!  I see you also do a little CW.  I was finally getting my speed up to a rapid 8 words a minute and then I quit practicing.  I need to get back with it.  I like it, I\'m just no good at it.  Enjoy your stay here.

Open Chat / Anyone here an amateur ichthyologist ?
« on: July 18, 2008, 10:34:39 PM »
I don\'t know much about aquariums.  I like to watch the fish, they\'re a lot of fun.  We took our niece to the NC Aquarium when we were down at the beach last year.  I enjoyed it a lot.  There are some strange looking creatures in the ocean.  Thanks for teaching me a new word Travis.  I had no idea what an ichthyologist was.  I would have guessed it was first kin to a proctologist.

PS- Buddy can I go fishing in your pond?
