Yesterday started taking apart my unit. Just as I thought. Scope assembly is separate. Looked very clean inside the scope unit. No heat markings.

 Careful visual inspection. No burned resistors or anything visual. Eletrolytic Caps look good. Checked the plastic connector on main unit. AC

going to scope unit. If I could be so lucky ! Tomorrow check the on off switch on the scope. Then fire it up with AC. But that's it for now. Sold

 my entry level Ellenco SG-9500 RF signal generator on Ebay. So Im in it for the long run ! With my new Boat Anchor Radio service unit!

Mine was built in 5/1981, Serial 559 I think. Forgot to write it down.  A previous owner. Scratched his address & SSI # underneath the scope.

on top of the second unit. Will try to contact. You never know. Might still have the manual !

Using a doughnut torroid with 20 - 25 turns of enameled wire. Will make a pick up for my $8.00 1Hz resolution/accuracy freq counter & check

 to see if she is on the button on 27.185. Then align the receive of upd858 CB radio.

Will print out your previous instructions. Cleaned all the rotary switches. Will upload pictures tomorrow.

I have also attached the schematic to the scope unit so you can download that.
Check the high suppresion diodes and the resistors around the HV supply.
Also remember those capacitors are not electrolytic.  The are 104's oil filled caps. (.01uf)

If you upload pictures set them to 640x480 px. anything larger will not upload

Hmm I will post later the correct serial number. I think that the scope module on my unit is different. When I upload the pics you can determine.
It is an 8 digit LCD display. Saw the pic on your other webpage Off to Ebay !

Well my search on Ebay was fruitless. However; What about simply purchasing a cheap 8 digit calculator from Wall Mart ? One with similar

 dimensions ?  Then removing the display from the calculator ? 8 digit 1 line LCD display.

I do not want to remove mine while it is still partially functional. Can you give me the specs off your damaged unit. I will then go to WM & see

 what I can find. I have somewhere old calculators with 8 digits large somewhere. I bet goodwill Salvation Army Thrift is over flowing with these

 calculators.

Interesting about the scop. But when you dig into it you will then see what it is.
Post up some pics and we can copare it to mine.

I will remove my LCD from the board this week end. Seems it has 40 pins. The LCD you referd to will not have solder on pins. It will be either zebra strip or a stuck on ribbon cable. not saying it will not work but there are some things you will have to do first.
Scope out all the pins on the LCD and see what is doing what. Measure and record voltage on all the pins.
Record what the pins are really doing and what part of the LCD is being controlled from them.
After all that then start by finding information on the LCD you want to try.

I would have done this to mine but since I think something in my control line took my LCD out my readings will not be correct.

Is their a way to connect an external Freq counter to check the freq out of the Signal Generator ? It appears that is all that is working on my Unit.

Can the internal FC be used to measure frequency of IF or synthesizer outputs ? If so. How do I connect ?

Scope; 450v 47uf both OK. two of the oil filled are Ok. The third with same part numbers is weak. The small oil filled Shot. This could be the issue

on this scope. Photos attached. No obvious Heat related damage.
