Hello my name is James, my call sign is km4njx, i have been licensed for 2 years, while I have been licensed that long I have hardly been on the air, because my elmer loaned me a tempo one, and shortly after, it quit transmitting and he has yet to fix it.

Hi James.
Welcome to the forums.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
A Tempo one is a nice old rig, but hardly a beginner rig. So many variables that can go wrong for the inexperienced operator.
I would look for a solid state rig. As long as you have a good antenna with good swr then you should be set.

Hey buddy thanks for the reply, I have managed to drag it back out the closet, and it appears to wanna intermittently transmit, like the wafer switches are dirty.
-
Will probably need a good cleaning. Let us know what you find James.

Will do buddy, is there anything else that I need to look for in that rig that would cause it intermittently lose power.

Tube pins and sockets, plus relay contacts. Do not sand them relay contacts.
