« on: December 24, 2016, 11:37:25 AM »
In this episode of Shop Talk we look at an interesting design of a Tripp lite PR 60 power supply.
Also updates on the HTX-100 and FT-101 radios.

It's a Rectifier Module Not a Bridge...

There are 2 independent rectifiers inside each one.

A  ->| +
B  ->| +

Cut the negatives off of the bridges and that should work...

It's a Center Tapped transformer with the tap serving as a return...

---------------->| +
C
---------------  (-)
C
---------------->| +

Haven't seen these rectifiers in use for a long time.

Except in 3 phase circuits.

How old is that supply ?

End Of Message...

Good Afternoon....
Retired Tech has it right.
Like I explained over on YouTube those modules were common in the Seventies.

I want to thank both you Retired Tech and Sue for clearing this up.  I just do not know why I could not see that on the schematic.
Then when I pulled up that picture on the web ( that one was wrong also) it really threw me a curve. Guess he had the same issue.  If the original diodes wee installed I may have caught it at first  but seeing the BR3504's in there I did not catch it.

I do see now why the wires from the transformer is split and should run to each diode pack.
Thanks again for this eye opener.
Guess you got to love 70's electronics solution lol.
