CB Radio Repair manuals and documentation / Re: B&K 2040 service manual

Hi Radio tech. the 1040 manual you posted is not the one I had sent you. the one I had sent you the pages were where you could just scroll down them. the one you have here is each page individual. I use to have the software to make them scrolling pages but no longer have it. adobe wants too much for it now.

thanks radio tech.

Hi Buddy, I had sent you a copy of the BK 1040 operators manual a few years ago and lost my hard drive and I had not saved it for some reason. you had gotten the BK 1040 service manual off Bryans web page and it has been shut down.
looked around here on your site and found the BK 2040 service manual but not the operators manual for the 2040. do you still have all 4 of them some where. when you 1st opened this site I thought you had posted all of them like the master tech books all together.
hoping you still have them. I could sure us them.

CB Radio Repair Forum / Re: Galaxy 48T problems

Hi Dean, I feel foolish just now seeing your post. my computer signed me out and I did not notice that. well not really the computer. I cleaned out all my old cookies and it took me off line.
have you checked to make sure none of the parts are touching or shorted at the mic plug. years ago I had a galaxy do this with the side mic and the board on the mic plug shorted to D77 and it would act this way also.not sure about the 48T radio since I have never even seen one of them. not sure how the plug lays out in this radio.

Questions and Answers / trying to find a mosfet
« on: September 25, 2017, 06:13:17 AM »
alright guy's, I am trying to find a few of the erf7530 mosfets that are in some radios and a few of the amps. I ran ought about 6 months ago and have not been able to find any other than 4 on ebay for 39.95 each. looks as if they are not made any more so wanting to know if you guy's have found a supplier lately. do not want to pay what that guy on ebay wants for his. I think they were under 5.00 the last ones I bought. a seller in Italy I think it was has them for 21.00 each plus shipping.
looks like they are going way up in price since no one has them any more. I was thinking about calling magnum to see if they have any since they go in some of their amps they have been selling.

they quit making them a few years ago. I just use the diodes for the upgrade, most of the time it works as good as the trans installed with the diodes.

Dean maybe Buddy will chime in and let you know what limits he has as far as posting size. I know cbtricks was hard to post on unless you use photobucket or one of those programs to host it on..  the 1st npc/rc mod I did was on a galaxy 88 I ran in my pickup in about 2002. its not a bad mod.

Smoke Blower is still around but not sure how much he post here. he was posting on another forum and the last 2 months he has quit. I guess I need to emil him to see how he is doing.

Question and Answers / Re: President radio and speaker I bought.
« on: September 11, 2017, 02:34:36 AM »
I like the old 858 PLL radios best. that is what this one is. I have 3 of them I rebuilt a couple years ago and only bought this one because of the  speaker.
I have searched on the web and have not found one like this one. also it is a all wood case and not a metal cover. I wiped down the cover and painted it with a non shiny black paint and it looks great now. a lot of the stock speakers go for way over 50.00 on ebay so I thought the 79.99 I paid with free shipping was not bad. it cost the guy 35.00 to ship  the radio and speaker on fedex. the box was 22 lbs and he had it wrapped good.

Question and Answers / Re: President radio and speaker I bought.

well I opened the radio and it does not look like it has ever been touched. it was dead at 1st  as the seller said. I blew out some of the dust and cleaned the controls and the radio started to respond. it needs to be recapped before I do any more.
the speaker box does have a nice oval speaker in it and sounds good. it has about a 20 oz magnet on it. plugged it in to a good radio and it sounds very good. nice clear and crisp audio out of it.
after I recap it I will let you know how it does. I am not in a hurry for it. did get a ranger TR696FD1 mobile working. paid 50.00 for it with free shipping and it works good now. just had some dirty controls and the radio works good. so many let a radio sett for a long time then sell it cheap because it does not work and controls are all that is wrong with the most of them I buy here lately.

it shows to be out for delivery today. I want to see what speaker is in that box. I have never seen this speaker either. will see if it has a big oval speaker in it when it gets here. looks like it could handle a 4x6 or 4x9 speaker. I have 3 of these radios that I rebuilt a couple years ago and put the controlled carrier mod in 2 of them that Laz had designed. . that mod really made them swing nice and clean but was a job installing it. that is why I only did 2 out of the 3.
