Hello;

I finally created my own website a few weeks ago, http://K0DXC.9f.com . After that I got a shorter URL, http://www.K0DXC.co.cc

Either URL works, whichever you prefer. I apologize for all the popups and banners you get when visiting my site; I hosted it via "Freewebs" and it was one of the things they required.

Enjoy!

Youth in Ham Radio / K0DXC - ARRL MN Youth Assistant Section Manager
« on: June 13, 2008, 10:55:09 AM »
Hello everyone;

I met with Skip, KS0J, and Dick, N0UC, tonight at my radio club meeting to discuss the possibility of them promoting me to ARRL MN Youth Assistant Section Manager. I had exchanged a few emails with Skip beforehand and he said that I was recommended for the job by the division director Jay, K0QB, and the MI Youth assistant section manager Ed, KG8CX.

Anyways... we met tonight and discussed things. Among those things were how I planned to bring youth into the hobby, my plan for doing this, my other interests in radio..... It was like a job interview. At the end they decided I was the right person for the job so right after my parents call him to give him the final okay I will be put on the ARRL board. (somewhere on it)

Thanks for listening!

What do you guys do on the internet?

I myself stick to the ham radio websites. Gokarters, hamisland, and qrz. I also do email of course.

I never really got into youtube or myspace. I do go on youtube occasionally but that is just to watch videos my friends make. I also watch some others as time permits. they can be quite funny at times.

Hopefully we have some CW FISTS members out there on this site, if you are one I would appreciate it if you would look over my article (with pictures too!) and tell me what you think. Thanks in advance!

I quick warning to anyone out there who has any type of naughty idea...

IDENTITY THEFT OR REGISTERING WITH SOMEONE ELSE\'S CALLSIGN WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!

It is a crime and if you do it will result in a quick and effective ban. :2wce0ep:

There are ways to track you through your IP address, don\'t think you can get away with it.

Just a quick warning, this was brought to mind because someone tried to pull off this stunt just the other day.

I hope there are no further problems, 73

Youth in Ham Radio / Youth Activity

How much youth activity is there in your area? (hams under 18)

I am about the only ham I know of in my area (should I say state :arf2: ) under 18

There are 2 other kids I know of my age (one older) they are both techs though and I don\'t even hear them in the repeaters that much.

What about you?

CW / Contest Vs. Ragchew
« on: February 22, 2008, 04:44:11 PM »
What type of CW operating style do you take into play? Contest, or Ragchew?

I myself enjoy contest style QSO\'s, unless I\'ve QSO\'d with the person before and am simply catching up with them. My QSO\'s (CW and Phone) generally consist of a simple 5NN (or 59), name Cal, QTH MN, 73.

What style of operating do you enjoy?

CW / Announcing the CW forum... Please Read
« on: February 21, 2008, 05:48:13 PM »
The CW forum is here for anyone who wishes to talk about CW to do so

You may also discuss CW related topics such as keyers, code programs, CW QSO\'s...

KEEP THINGS CLEAN! I do NOT Wish to check into the forum one night to find a group of people ganging up on someone because they\'re a "No-Coder" It is not acceptable. You may talk about the subject of the FCC dropping the code because it relates to CW, but please don\'t take it to far beyond that in those alleys.

Please use your better judgment when making your posts.

Thank you.

DX Central / Best/favorite DX
« on: February 21, 2008, 05:13:44 PM »
What is your best or favorite DX contact?

Mine would probably be my first CW DX. It was a station in Cuba, CM6CAC. It wasn\'t my best, but my favorite.

This is because it was my first CW DX, I literally jumped out of my chair when I got a K0DXC 5NN BK. It was a moment I\'ll always remember.

What\'s your story?

The SKED forum is for amateur to set up QSO\'s with each other for awards or whatever purpose they might have. You may also talk about nets that may be useful for amateurs. W.A.S. nets, DX nets.

Basically we just ask that you use your better judgment on deciding whether or not to place your thread in this board.

Thanks.

Equipment reviews / Announcing the Equipment Reviews forum, please read
« on: February 20, 2008, 08:13:15 PM »
This forum if for owners of equipment to post their opinions on their radios. If your radio does not have it\'s own thread, start one for it. If there is already a thread on you radio please post your review in that thread.

There are no right or wrong reviews, you do not need to quote someone and tell them off for saying something bad about their radio, maybe theirs malfunctioned.

At the beginning of your review please give a rating out of 5 stars. ex. 4/5 stars, 3/5 stars...

Thanks.

overall rating 4/5 stars

Overall, good radio.

I have owned this radio for about 2 1/2 years now, no big problems. Great radio to start yourself off with, not to great a Noise blanker, but the DSP works great! A FB rig. It is one of the best mobile operating rigs on the market. I have used it as a base even and it can greatly compare itself to other rigs.

It has a fan that will run frequently, but that\'s only if you use the radio for a few hours straight.

A good purchase, not many are disappointed.
