CB Radio Repair Forum / Galaxy 48T problems

Hey guys i have a 48T in the shop that is really giving me a headache.... It was brought in the shop with a complaint of no tx, well in put it on the bench and everything was working fine and then it started tx would drop out then come back and the longer i messed with it the worse it would get,, so i flexed the board and checked solder joints and nothing so i set it flat on the bench with component side up and keyed the mic,, nothing,, i touched the frame by mistake and it keyed up let the frame go and it unkeyed so i touched the frame again and it keyed up so yeah the headache started.... when it does key up the radio works flawlessly....... any help with this would be greatly apreciated......

Thanks guys i have been a member here since February of 2012 but must have forgotten i signed up here till i went to CBT the other night checking on the forum there and seen that someone there was talking about this place and came over and then it hit me that i was a member.....(old age i guess)LOL

I really like this radio, that was definitely a good score, I have two of them in the shop one is a uniden Washington which is my very first base station bought in 1987 with a golden eagle d104 and the other is a president washington (same radio) which i got not long after i opened the shop here 7 years ago and both need to be recapped, anyway good score!!!!

Billy has done a lot with this mod. He admits he is not the one to come up with it, but he has spent time with it.

I know this is an old post but that was the link to my post for the 3600xxx board. I had made 3 or 4 post on that forum about this mod for 3 or 4 different boards and had gotten many thanks for the step by step instructions for this mod. I for whatever reason never could post it to the CBT forum and dont know if i can here so i was emailing it to numerous members there. if anyone is interested in it i can try to post them here..... I love this mod and have done many many radios thanks to BDW (RIP Brother)

Hello my name is Dean and i am from south Louisiana, I am an electronic tech, I am always looking to share and learn and looking to meet new techs and non techs. I see some familiar people from the CBT forum and am looking to catch up with them. I run a small repair shop out of my home on a part time basis. anyway like i said hello and i hope so have a great time here!!!!
