CW / key selection question!
« on: September 03, 2008, 03:48:39 PM »
Hi Travis;

I do not have any experience with that particular model or brand. All I can suggest is that you go to a site such as eham and look at the reviews, you should be able to find plenty of input that way. Good luck! I hope everything works out!

My you\'re switching gears quickly. :icon_rolleyes:

I\'ll let you wallow in your shenanigans, I\'m going to partake in a p***ing match on someone\'s patriotism. It\'s childish.

I have better things to do.

Flag pin.

No flag pin.

Out.

ROFL! That was a good one. Can you answer the question on Obama\'s decision to now drill for oil however?

I am planning on upgrading to General Class by the end of the year. I have held my current callsign since I was originally licensed in 1995. I would like to change my callsign either now or when I upgrade.

I was wondering how many of you have kept their/your original callsign even when you have upgraded.

Was a new callsign automatically assigned?
Did you go through the vanity callsign program?

It\'s not that I hate my callsign, it is dear to me. I\'m just now getting back into ham radio after a long lapse and have set a goal to upgrade.  I thought a change in my callsign would therefore also be appropriate.

My grandpa has held his original callsign for 50 years. He was licensed as KN9MMS when he was 14 back in 1958 and then when he upgraded to general his call was automatically changed to K9MMS but he has still kept the same call.

As for me..... I changed my call from KC0USZ to K0DXC right when I upgraded to general.

I have purchased and received the radio(s) I was looking for.  My thanks to WA9YZO for selling his radios.

Woopsies, never mind then.

I\'m glad you found what you were looking for.

Looking for a Kenwood TH-28A / 28E Handheld. It\'s a 2 meter HT.

This radio is the first radio I got when I started in Ham Radio.  I had traded it in a a local Hamfest years ago for my current HT.  I loved the features of this radio and the size.  I know I can\'t get my original back but would like to find one to purchase if available.:186:

KF4FMT

I have a Kenwood TH-K2AT (or TH-K2, I think it\'s the same thing)

I haven\'t even had the thing for a week, I won it at a hamfest and I\'ll probably never use it.

Well..... when we said that I think we meant advice, or something else along those lines.

If you have $100 dollars you\'re willing to spend I suggest that you buy a VX-150. Great HT, works beautifully.

I have a very limited knowledge of fixing radios. However if I can help I am more than happy to, only thing I would charge for would be parts.

Good point.

Yes, I would charge if I had to pay some expense for parts. However, I would not charge them for using my time. Especially because I bet that you like fixing up radios, Buddy.

Ham Radio Chit Chat / Don\'t charge
« on: August 04, 2008, 06:51:21 PM »
I voted that you shouldn\'t charge people, and you should simply keep doing what you\'re doing. If you are working on the radios of friends, show them kindness, work for free. It would be kind of weird to have been working on someones radios for a long time without charge and then suddenly when you finish, "Oh yeah, that\'ll be $100."

That would be awkward.
