That\'s good to hear Cal, I can\'t wait till it arrives. I\'ve been watching the Elecraft reflector and there doesn\'t seem to be a bad word said about it, and you know what a pinickety group hams are at the best of times.

Not yet Tom, but I went out and bought a big fat linear PSU so it will be ready when the K3 arrives, yes I know I should really build such a beast, but it\'s time constraints at the moment, I just don\'t seemed to get the time to build as much as I used to.

Hi Tom, I\'ve only just ordered my bag of bits, so I guess it will take about six months to arrive, all being well with a following wind. Oh my, I haven\'t resorted to watching videos on it yet.

I dunno about finding other intelligent life.  I\'m kinda happy they haven\'t found us yet.

Remember that "to serve man" was a cookbook.  :eyepop:

I wouldn\'t worry too much, I reckon intelligent life knows all about us, but they steer well clear and can you blame them? They could well have decoded our TV and radio signals and they don\'t like what they see or hear. If we can\'t get on with our fellow human, how are we going to get on with another life form?

Well It looks like Im a little late in saying this but hello and glad to see ya here.

Never too late to say hello and glad to be here, thanks for the welcome. I haven\'t looked in lately, I\'m feeling a bit knackered lately with a new job and all that, so the computer has taken a back seat along with amateur radio. Next project is a K3 so when things have settled down a bit I might be able to get on the air a bit more often.

I\'m up for that Tom, but I think it\'s something to do with flying pigs and shoot\'n for our pork getting money from them :)

I\'ve been using Linux for a few years now and there\'s no chance of going back to Windows again, unfortunately I\'ve got to use Windows at work. I use PCLinuxOS, I\'ve been using it for about a year now.

There must be some very gullible people in the world, otherwise they would desist in sending these blasted emails. It\'s sad really, it\'s relying on human greed.

Hi Paul!

Yeah, we are kinda drama free here, well, usually. :)

Did you get much snow the other day? I got a snap shot view from my aunt\'s kitchen window in Windsor day before yesterday and was surprised to see bloom covered shrubs and her road quite well covered in the stuff!

Anyway, welcome, make yourself comfy and hang around a while. I am an old \'Sloughie\' (Stoke Poges actually) and I have been hanging out here in the colonies for the past 41 years now. :smileybaby:

Hi Tom,
Yes we did have a little snow the other day, it went by about midday thankfully, I hate the stuff! Stoke Poges eh? Yes I know that place, although I live in east London I work over in Northwest London at Northwick Park hospital as a Senior Bio-Medical engineer, it was probably a new hospital 40 years ago, it\'s looking a bit tired these days, just like me :)

I thought it would be of interest to see the inside of that amplifier:

Thanks for posting that link Tom, not very pretty is it? Still, it works and is safe so I\'ll label it properly some day.

I know what you mean about the cost of new tubes, luckily I managed to get two pair of matched 4CX250B tubes for fifty quid, about $100 off Ebay, so they\'ll keep me going for a few years.

Nice to see those old Zenith radios, I remember when I was younger walking down Tottenham Court Road in London and pressing my nose up against the shop windows looking longingly at those Zenith radios and wondering if I could ever afford one, I probably couldn\'t afford to buy one now as they are vintage status :)

Yes, keep us up to date on how you progress, I take great interest in anyone building equipment like this. I hope your are able to get the necessary parts OK. That\'s the trouble this side of the Atlantic, getting the RF components that are able to handle the RF power. Mostly it\'s a case of going to rallies, even then it is getting quite difficult sometimes, to say nothing of the cost, because dealers know how much these things are worth now.

I have had to order some components from RF Parts in California, because they are not available in the UK.

I would post some of my pictures, but they are large, so I must see if I can resize them.
