Gear Head / Painting disaster!
« on: June 18, 2010, 01:51:27 PM »
I am finally getting around to painting my HD.    Stripped it all the way down, sealed it twice, primed it twice, basecoated it black twice.  So far, so good.   Using House of Kolor Royal Blue Flake with a DBC500 blending agent made by PPG.

The problem is that the guy painted the blue flake too thick.  It should have had 1 medium coat, then clear.   He put about 4 coats of the flake, and it is so thick that it feels like asphalt!  It is that rough.    A paint distributor just called me and said that I have one chance left.   3 coats of clear, sand it, then 2 more coats of clear.    I was about to give up, til I just got the call while I was typing this.   Wish me luck guys,   I still have a chance!

Gear Head / Got a fuel problem with my 01 GMC truck.

Never buy an AirTek fuel pump, from !    It went out about a year after the initial install.   Got a warranteed replacement, but all I have heard from different mechanics that they are prone to problems.   I know it will go out again, and I will bite the bullet and buy a GM pump if I have to.   The wiring is the issue, it is a factory defect that they will not admit.    After replacing the wiring around the pump with the last pump, I have had no further issues.   Thanx, Crazy

Hard to believe how well this thing works.  Must be replaced  each time, but that is better than losing a finger or hand.   WOW.

Gear Head / Looking for Harley Davidson parts of any kind.
« on: May 03, 2010, 07:24:26 PM »
Found brand new gas caps online, new take offs, shipped for $20 a pair.   Trying to re-work a pair of exhaust lines now.    Cut my straight drag pipes off and slid on a pair of factory slip-on mufflers.  Not perfectly straight, but I think I can adjust them later.  I have had enough for the day, back is killing me, so time  to kick back.

Thanx, Crazy

If anyone has ANYTHING, even gas tank caps, let me know what you have and what you want for it.     I am fixing up a 99 sporty, with a dual gas tank, and plan to paint her pretty soon.
   Thanx,  Crazy

I bought an old one for cheap, and now I know why it was so cheap. I think the company went out of business and parts are hard to find. I need to get a belt, but I\'m not sure what size.
I tried googling it and came up empty.

Is it an old V-style belt, or a serpentine?(not likely).

Measure around the pulleys with a piece of string, then measure it.   You can cross them up at any automotive store.    If it doesn\'t fit, you know which way to go, and they will exchange it.   I have done this more than once, on mowers, and it should work on a tiller too.  What brand of engine?   Tecumseh, or B & S?

That was a good read.  But there still have been no tools found that would cut the stones that accurate.   NONE.     To cut and place them so precise that a credit card won\'t fit between them, THAT is skill.    Perhaps someday we will have the details that we are left without right now.  I can hardly wait.  I love archaeology.    There was a big discovery/announcement there this week, I am about to try and dig it up (lol) and see what it was all about.   Thanx, Crazy

Crazy, I\'ve heard these concerns about pyramids over the years and I haven\'t seen any honest investigations or calculations proving or disproving them.  I wonder why?  Is it just too much for scientists to figure out or what?

Maybe I\'ll google it and see if some nerds have figured it out. ;-)

If you find anything credible and/or interesting, send me a link.   I love this stuff!

Thanx, Crazy

For the great pyramids, a stone had to be cut, delivered and placed every 9 seconds to fit in with the building schedule.   It didn\'t happen.  And there are also stones weighing over 400 tonnes, on other sites.     No way.

Back to Egypt.    No iron tools have been found, and no instruments that could explain the degree of accuracy.

There are sight-tunnels that extend from the depths to the top, and they line up with stars in other constellations that can\'t be seen with the human eye.     There was more to their construction than we know at this time,  much more.

Hey Mac40,  no one said that the first things done by ETs was the landmarks.  Nor did everyone say it was the most important.    But there are reasons they are placed at certain parallels, it wasn\'t random.     I hope we find out more in our lifetime.   We will just have to see!

Software Talk / Xp Users, Do Not Press F-1!
« on: March 02, 2010, 08:23:26 PM »
If you\'re still using Windows XP, Microsoft has a piece of security advice for you: don\'t hit F1.

A recently discovered vulnerability is disrupting how Windows XP handles VBScripts that are used to load Help files. Hackers could disguise malicious code as a Windows Help file (with the extension ".hlp"), and then launch a pop-up window prompting users to press F1 for help. Pressing F1 would in fact load the malicious file, and execute the code, thus infecting a PC. Fortunately, the vulnerability does require user interaction, so those who refrain from using Help (or who turn it off entirely) will remain safe. Details for how to turn off Help can be found here.

The vulnerability applies to IE6, IE7, and IE8 on Windows XP. Vista and Windows 7 users, meanwhile, are unaffected.

Microsoft is currently working to patch the flaw, but has not announced a time by which to expect a fix. This is just one more reason to join the 21st century, and leave XP behind as the quaint memory of a bygone era that it is. [From: Microsoft, via: Computer World]

Both of you are correct.   When I was a teenager I had a monster linear (spelling?) , an aluminum finned monster.  I never got in trouble with it, but  a lot of folks wanted to know who I was, lol.   See, I was crazy long before I was CRAZY! :arf2:
