Basic beginner Electronics / Re: adding fuse to tube radios

Good question. If you pull of the specs you can maximum current draw.
The filaments will draw about 150ma when first powered up, and total will be around 30 watts of power. this is near 4 amps. So a 5 amp fuse should be ok.  I like the fuse before the switch. Remember switches and short also.

Doing a restoration is not as easy as I thought. have run into some setbacks but am still going forward. had a broken knob on one of the rotary switch's and did some searching for a repair option. found a youtube video
that addressed the problem . cloning vintage knobs Wesley Treat's channel had this video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNBHtlhlHF4       10 min. video was very cool had some things to buy but the quality of the repair and the "original " look it gives right down to the small scratches was very impressive  for the do it yourself kinda person.

I agree, restorations can really be tough at times. Finding and recreating vintage parts are near to impossible.  Why I never throw out old electronics.

That was an excellent video. Thank you for posting it. I never seen that one. His style is fun to watch.

Cool deal.  I think I have seen a schematic for that model. I will have to dig around.
I will get in touch with you today on the board. PM me if you do not hear anything. So busy.

Wow, Great job at hunting down the faulty component.
Must have been bad from the beginning.
Thanks for posting this unique bit of troubleshooting.

Using the brute force method like that really helps on the tough ones.
On older gear I use a low voltage battery on the rail. Then start checking the voltage as I move away from the battery.

The way you did it works a treat for those hard to read schematics or no schematic.

Thanks again for this valuable information.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
Thanks for joining in here and on YouTube.
I know what you mean about repairing equipment. I hardly get a chance to even see my own.

I think it is the settings I have that does not allow folks to post embedded HTML files.  It is a safety feature.
I need to set the board to display for YouTube.
