84 Christmas in the shop and a few updates In this video we receive a nice gift from Mikes Radio Repair. We also look at the display issue for the HTX-100 and a few updates.
#83 Back to Basic Radio Troubleshooting In this video we take a look at a 5 dollar black box radio. CB radios are a good learning platform if ytou are just starting out in radio electronics. They can be bought for a few bucks. This radio was manufactured over seas and has been reproduced under many names. It uses the standard export EPT3600 board. Can we make the radio work again? Lets find out.
Here we have a JDR 3500 35 MHz 2 channel scope. This unit came in with no trace. After looking I found Q8 (S2D401) shorted. This was replaced and other components tested. This unit uses some type of switch mode power supply for the high voltage and heater. Power comes from 15 volts DC into the circuit.
I really do not know that much about these switching high voltage supplies
In this video we take a donor radio and do a little troubleshooting to see just how bad a shape it is in. Since I already have one of these I will probably give this radio away to someone in need.
